2021 Federal Budget: The Key Areas of Federal IT Spending Predictions
With the end of the Governments fiscal year fast approaching (Sept 30th) many organizations are beginning to think about their Government focused go-to-market plans and strategies for 2021. At Marion Square we are constantly asked by clients and prospective clients "where is the Government going to spend money in the coming year?" and "should we consider pursuing Government business"?
Marion Square constantly researches Government budget information to ensure we are properly guiding and advising our clients with the most relevant up to date information. Below are a few of the key spending areas we have found researching the 2021 budget requests:
Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Information Sciences (Quantum Computing & Encryption) and Cybersecurity are all going to be well funded in 2021.
Specifically looking at AI and Quantum according to the Forbes article the Federal Government has budgeted over $2B for R&D spending in these areas.
A TechCrunch article echoed these exact same sentiments earlier this year.

Regarding Cybersecurity, the DoD has highlighted in its budget request for 2021 $5.4B in funding
A great way for Small Business to pursue this funding is through the many R&D opportunities the Federal Government offers specifically the SBIR/STTR and BAA processes. The next opportunity to submit proposals for SBIR programs is October of this year. (https://www.sbir.gov/)
Marion Square has helped many Small Businesses successfully pursue SBIR contracts, if you are interested in learning more about SBIR's, BAA's and Government funding opportunities for Small Business feel free to contact us info@marion-square.com or visit our website at www.marion-square.com
