Congress Averts Shutdown - CR Extended through March

Congress has yet again averted a Government shutdown, and pushed the continuing resolution (CR) to March. This is the third CR of FY2024, and is split into two buckets of agencies with separate deadlines.

Transportation, HUD, Energy, VA and USDA all face a March 1st deadline while the remaining agencies face a March 8th deadline.

“There’s every reason in the world to make this an easy, uncomplicated, and drama-free process,” Schumer said. “I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to do just that: work in good faith. We’re willing to cooperate, as always, with the other side to keep this process moving, but Republican members need to be realistic and practical about how much time we have left before the shutdown deadline.”

The clock is ticking for Congress to pass a budget for FY24 - Government agencies already have a significantly less time to spend their FY24 budget.
